Tijaniyyah Du’a for Muharram

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Some of the Tijaniyyah recommend the following to be done on the 1^st Muharram, although there is no harm in reading it during the rest of the month, especially the first ten days. 

For protection on this Blessed day, we are asked to read Ayat al-Kursi 360 times. 

سُوۡرَةُ البَقَرَة

ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡحَىُّ ٱلۡقَيُّومُ‌ۚ لَا تَأۡخُذُهُ ۥ سِنَةٌ۬ وَلَا نَوۡمٌ۬‌ۚ لَّهُ ۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۗ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَشۡفَعُ عِندَهُ ۥۤ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِهِۦ‌ۚ يَعۡلَمُ مَا بَيۡنَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ‌ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَىۡءٍ۬ مِّنۡ عِلۡمِهِۦۤ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ‌ۚ وَسِعَ كُرۡسِيُّهُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ‌ۖ وَلَا يَـُٔودُهُ ۥ حِفۡظُهُمَا‌ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَلِىُّ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ (٢٥٥) 

Allah!  There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal.  Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him.  Unto Him Belongs whatsoever is in the Heavens and whatsoever is in the Earth.  Who is he that intercedes with Him save by His Leave?  He Knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His Knowledge save what He Will.  His Throne includes the Heavens and the Earth, and He is never weary of Preserving them.  He is the Sublime, the Tremendous. (Surah al-Baqarah:255)

And then read this du’a once: 

Ya Muhaawwil al-Ahwaal, Hawwil haalana ilaa ahsan il-ahwaal bihawlika, Ya ‘Azizu Ya Muta’aal wa swalla Allahu ‘alaa Sayyidinaa Muhammadin wa ‘alas alihi wa swahbihi wa sallam. 

O Changer of States, Change our state to the best of states, with Your State O All-Mighty, O One Exalted beyond All Imagination, and Send Your Salutations on our master Muhammad and on his family and companions with peace.
