A Convert is Not Obliged to Adopt Someone Else’s Version of Islam

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Converts to Islam are not supposed to inherit the historical hatreds, prejudices and baggage of the ummah.  We are supposed to take the good and leave the bad.  We are meant to work on their relationship with the Divine and look at Creation with new eyes.  The social, political and communal problems of every part of the ummah are not supposed to be our concern.  We are not obliged to adopt someone else’s version of Islam.
